I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Steven McCoy, and yes I am the “Real McCoy”. Born in the Indianola Hospital, graduated from Indianola High School, attended Drake University, Arizona School of Art and the Omaha Art school. I am 20 years old with 47 years of experience and I feel honored to be chosen to serve as Co-chairman of the Warren County Republicans.

I would like to thank Barack Hussein Obama for making it possible for me to serve you. Yes, Barack Hussein Obama, for waking me up. You see I had been guilty of belonging to the Rip Van Winkle Fan Club. Like some of you, I had been busy working, paying taxes, raising a family, being a responsible citizen, yet asleep to what was happening to our country. And then the wake up call came on January 20, 2009. Well, I am awake now! Are you?

I decided to get involved and I started at the precinct caucus. This is the best place to start. I worked on the Warren County platform committee and was chosen at the county convention to be the county representative for District 4. At District Convention I was chosen to serve as District representative for the State Platform Committee. The Republican State Platform we have today is about 80% of the Warren County Platform. If you will read the opening declaration statement and the statement of principles you will have a pretty good understanding as to where I stand, for I authored those two documents.

One of my favorite quotes is from Samuel Adams (The Father of the American Revolution). He said,”The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of disgrace on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should allow them to be usurped from us without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the deceptive maneuvers of false and scheming men.”

I will do my best to make sure our liberties will not be usurped without a struggle as I serve you. Just as our Founding Fathers committed their passions, time and treasures to ensure liberty and freedom for us, we must now ensure for our children and our children’s children the same liberties and freedom by dedicating ourselves to be the “Defending” Fathers.
