| I was born in Des Moines in October of 1957 which makes me 53 years young. I have lived in Warren County all but one of those years. I was raised on a Dairy farm in southern Warren Co. and graduated from SEW High School in 1976. After working for some time in the farming business I made the decision in the early 80's during the farm crisis that maybe farming wasn't the best business to be in. I left the farm at that time and worked twenty years for Atlantic Coca Cola Bottling in Waukee. I started at the bottom and worked my way up the ladder to the position of a Key Accounts sales manager.
After building my own home in 1996 myself I started a custom home building business on the side while I still worked full time for Atlantic Bottling Co. until 2004 when I left Coca Cola and devoted myself full time to the building business. I really enjoyed building beautiful new homes because it gave me such a sense of accomplishment when you finished a large home. However the Governments involvement in the mortgage business artificially inflated the building bubble until it burst nearly three years ago. The building business in general was in a two year slide until the failed energy policies of the government and nearly $4.00 a gallon gas brought the entire economy of the US to her knees.
Seeing the writing on the wall at that time I thought maybe now would be a good time to change careers one final time. In April of this past year I became a licensed Insurance Agent in the State of Iowa and began working for Farm Bureau Financial Services Company. I really enjoy selling insurance, because as in building homes I get a great sense of satisfaction when I can help someone get the proper coverage their family needs and in many cases I get to save them some money as well.
I am on my third term as Chairman and before that I was the Co-Chair for several years. At this time I have a burning desire to help put limits back on government in as many ways as possible, because I believe that the meddling of our government in places they shouldn't have been meddling in is a great part of why our economy has crashed. I feel that all of the life experiences I have lived through all these years will lend itself well to me someday should I decide to run for an elected office in the future, but for now my goal is to help take back control of the Republican Party from those who have hijacked it and don't have the values in mind that were in the forefront when the Republican was started. Many of the values of Lincoln have been forgotten by many who think they represent the Republican Party. I am not of the belief that we want to exclude any one for their ideas, but I don't want those with their Liberal ideas being the base of the Party. I feel the base needs to rooted in the original beliefs of the Party just as the original beliefs, content and intent of the Constitution should be followed. |
